Off-grid Solar systems
What is an Off-grid Solar System you might ask?
An off-grid solar system consists of 4 main sub-systems; power generation system (solar panel, wind turbine, generator), power management system (cables, fuses, bus bars, other backend electronic components), power storage system (batteries, BMS), and mounting system (solar racking and brackets, batter mounts, diamond plate backing). Each of these sub-systems comes together to make the complete off-grid system functional.

Power Generation
Generating power is crucial for an off-grid system. Power must be produced before it can be consumed or stored. The more sources of power you can integrate into your off-grid system the more capable it will be. This is especially true as you travel and your environment changes. In one area generators may not be allowed and in another the sun might be obscured.

Power Management systems
Generating power does you no good if you are unable to safely consume or store it. A power management system does just that. As the power is moved through the off-grid system, properly sized cables, fuses, communication systems, and other electronic components work in concert to ensure your system stays safe and functional.

Power Storage Systems
Storing your power once you have captured it allows your system to continue to function once the power source is lost or shut off. This is important because the sun doesn’t always shine, the wind doesn’t always blow, and fuel takes can run dry. It is also important to have a properly sized energy storage system both for the safety and the performance of the overall off-grid system.

Mounting System
How your off-grid system is mounted is going to greatly determine how well it will perform and how long it will last. This is especially true for mobile applications where the system will be subjected to life on and off the road. In addition, the design of your mounting system will play a role of how long your RV or other mobile application will last. For example, some mounting systems place holes over the entire roof which are difficult to inspect and waterproof. Others do not.
